What is a campaign?

Definition - A series of elements/actions coordinated together to reach a goal.

In our Case, we are promoting a new artist/band in their first music campaigns.

In this blog post I will look at the successful music campaigns of famous English indie/Rock band Arctic Monkeys.

Over the course of promoting your artist, more than one type of media is required to promote the artist successfully. They must be included in the marketing and seen on all forms of promoting. These types can be a photoshoot, an interview, a social media accounts, Live sessions/Tours and various other ways to create demand for the artist.

I will look at Arctic Monkey's second album 'Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not.' This is their most recognisable album to the music community. (the first album didn't get a lot of publicity and is full of expletives)

Released in 2006, 'I bet you look good on the dance floor' was released as a single and topped the charts for a while. The album was then released early because of high demand where it topped multiple album charts and has been deemed as one of the greatest albums ever created. It was also the fasted selling album of the decade.

After the success, many interviews were released and created with the band to help with the launch campaign.

The band then headlined Glastonbury that year too.

Music Videos were then created to publicise the band more for example.

This was a successful music campaign as it had all the elements put together to achieve the same goal. It included all of the above, Tours, live sessions/performances, music videos and interviews.
