Our intentions with the test shoot was to create a music video which was as similar to the real thing as it could be. For obvious reasons we could not have 2 television screens and 3 cameras for the production so we did the best we could with it. We used 2 fluorescent tube lights and a soft box to give more light to the shot as it was initially quite dark. The set was very simple and we got 2-3 shots of each band member.
In one of our lessons, we screened our test shoot to the class and got some feedback for it.
Our first piece of feedback was to direct our cast members better. In the video, the actors look very miserable and unenthusiastic, this may because they don't know their parts too well.
The video was quite repetitive - It needed a variety of shot sizes and angles to compensate for the lack of Tv screens.
Needed more performance element so it can be less repetitive and boring for audience.
Our Lead Singer Ady looks brilliant, very chilled and confident - cast brilliantly, everyone suits their roles perfectly.
The things we need to develop
Think about directing the cast and giving them clearer instructions so they can look confident in the video and not look clueless on the actual shoot day. We will do another rehearsal with the band where we will give the instructions.
Me and Alfie are going to think of some shot ideas that don't involve lip syncing which we can use as well as the performance elements. This will make the video more interesting and build the star image of our lead singer.
We are also going to experiment with some more lighting techniques and colours which will make the video better and original.
We are going to give our lead singer more direction. Even though she looks amazing and plays the part really well, we are going to make her happier and more flirty on the set.
